December 19 - Last Blast SuperkhanaWe had another great year of Superkhana events in 2009, reports, photos and results can be seen below. And for 2010, we have scheduled more great Superkhana days. If you haven't competed for a while, you'll enjoy our new streamlined events and fabulous courses. And if you've never participated, these are ideal events for first-timers - we always have a few. If you're not sure, come along and have a look at one of our events - it's free.
The Speed Dome is at the Eastern end of Eddie Barron Drive, in Midvale. Spectator entry is free and there is an excellent, shady viewing area with refreshments available on site. Action starts at 9am.
Take a look through the Superkhana web pages and see the fantastic variety of cars which has competed over the years. And the cost is still the same - just $65 for the best value motor sport day you'll enjoy. There's no need to modify your car, which will be checked prior for roadworthiness. Drivers need a good quality helmet. long sleeves and a competition license - many car clubs can issue a CAMS license and we can issue AASA Licenses on the day for $50 for a year's License. It's all straightforward and the easiest way to enjoy your motor sport.
OPEN SUPERKHANA - Afternoon session only - Sunday, February 14
Our first open Superkhana for the year - it's an afternoon session. Open to all cars, this is the first of our series during 2010. To spice things up a bit, we will be running two layouts, with two runs on each course. Always a lot of fun and as well suited to first timers as experts. If you haven't competed here before, see below for reports, photos and results from Superkhanas last year. And we've kept the price the same for 2010.
Refreshments available on site. Free spectator entry. Good, shady spectator area. Hopefully if it's a warm day we'll get the sea breeze early. Click on the Regulations and Entry form below. Remember to mark the date at the top of your entry form so we know which Superkhana you're entering.

NEW EVENT - Dowerin Dirt Superkhana - February 28
Here's a great new event at a brilliant venue. Yes, it's a 2-hour drive to get there, but we've arranged with the good folks at Dowerin to make use of their Field Days site which has extremely high quality dirt roads - with clear grass paddocks in between. We've laid out two different courses which will be tremendous fun in a safe environment. The Dowerin Car Club will be doing a sausage sizzle and drinks, so there's no need to bring refreshments. We've got a big shady building for Scrutineering and the Pits area.
Cars will compete in the following categories: (a) Pre 1980, (b) 1980-2000, (c) post 2000, (d) 4-wheel drive vehicles (all).
Here's a great opportunity to see how your car handles on a loose surface - and to see how well you can handle it too. A great fun learning opportunity. It is a very safe venue with the best dirt roads you could drive on. Simply put some masking tape on the back edges of your wheelarches and come on out and have some sliding fun! Off road tyres are not encouraged!
Interestingly the location we're using was used for racing in the 1930s and '40s. If it's a success, we'll run more events like it. Click on the Regulations and Entry form below. Remember to mark the date at the top of your entry form so we know which Superkhana you're entering.

ITALIAN CAR SUPERKHANA - Sunday, February 7 2010 - Report, Results & Photos
![]()
After a bit of pressure from some of the car clubs we ended up with an excellent turnout of Italian cars for the third Italian Car Superkhana Day. Ferrari, Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Maserati were represented this year, with cars spanning four decades.
A new course for this year proved a good challenge and received many positive comments. With only one wrong way and two traffic cones hit all day, the course was enjoyed by all, and many newcomers were amongst the participants.
John Trowell celebrated his 80th birthday by competing in his Alfa Romeo GTV. The most talked about cars were: the spectacular little Fiat 500 which Luca Giorgella and Mario Monachino entered. Recently arrived from Italy, this little monster featured a 1.7-litre Alfa 33 engine, mid-mounted and sporting a supercharger. The central driving position is pretty special too. Paul Odden's beautiful 246GT Dino was centre of attention. He's owned the car for 32 years.
And the dramatic looking Fiat X1-9 racing car of Gordon Mitchell was a real talking point on the day too. The lineup of other Italian cars in the carpark throughout the day gave us plenty of interest to see too.
Thanks also to the drivers of the 'other' makes who supported the day (most of whom are ex-Italian car owners), and to the officials who generously gave their time - also mostly ex or current Italian car owners, as it happens... With the successful raffle helping, we will be able to present a decent cheque to Northbridge Rotary at the Italian Car Day on February 21st at Mulberry on Swan.
Congratulations to the winning drivers.
Outright winner - Vince Troth - 1976 Fiat 131 Abarth replica
Second place - Simon Lingford - 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS
Third place - Lance Carwardine - 1990 Lancia Delta Integrale
Class winners:
Alfa Romeo - Andrew Murray - 1969 Alfa Romeo 105 GT
Fiat/Lancia - Vince Troth - 1976 Fiat 131 Abarth replica
Ferrari/Maserati - Simon Lingford - 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS
Great to see three different makes in the top three places. And Cindy Troth, sharing the Fiat 131 with husband Vince, drove exceptionally well. Her first event ever had been the weekend before at the All-Girls Superkhana. Twelfth place, beating a lot of the boys is a pretty impressive result! And how close were Luca and Mario's results in the monster Bambino they both drove? And, interestingly, Alex and Sal' sharing the Alfasud were also very close in the results.
Thanks to the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, Fiat Lancia Club and Ferrari Club Australia for their participation. One club was pleased to have gained two new members on the day. Paul Blank, AEM principal said afterwards "The day had a lovely, friendly atmosphere, and it was wonderful to see such a mix of cars participating. As a keen Italian car enthusiast - I'm a committee member and ex-President of the Ferrari Club, Honorary Life member of the Fiat Lancia Club and Honorary member of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, I'm very proud to be able to put this event together with the support of the clubs. We will have a record figure to present at the All Italian Car Day of funds raised today."

Last Blast Superkhana - December 6th - Results & Photos shown
With another full field of entries we had a great mixture of cars entered - as usual - our final event of the year was another successful day at the Speed Dome. We had quite a number of first timers among the field, many of whom said they'd be back...
Two different courses were run, with two runs on each. We had a visit from the Ferrari Club, and their President did a demonstration lap in his yellow TR512 just before the course change. Participants and spectators were treated to a variety of Ferraris in the carpark, spanning a pair of 246GT Dinos to a 599 Maranello.
There was plenty of driving skill being exhibited. Jason Hallam impressed with his car control, drifting his Skyline around the course at the absolute limit much of the time. Darren Weise's V8 Torana was as spectacular as ever and all the modern 4WD turbo cars showed why they're so hard to beat.
It's interesting to see some new names high on the results rankings. Well done to Adrian Tizzano for his first time on top of the list. Second place-getter Bruce Hawley, a regular competitor , has never finished this high. And newcomer Jonathan Durrant placed very well in his PRB, being the fastest of the 2WD cars, just ahead of David Brittain's BMW M3. Congratulations to our winner and all the placegetters.
Thanks our officials - Ian Mann, Natalie Holburn, Martin McCoy, Rod Willis and Brock Mann for their help on the day.
Check back soon for 2010 Superkhana dates.

September 20 Superkhana - Results, report & photos
We had a full field of entries on a day with pretty dodgy weather - patches of rain wetting the course throughout the day. The sun would shine, track dry out, then rain again... Of course whenever open cars like the Super 7s or Ron Fabry's neat MG Midget went on the track, it rained.
As always we had an excellent variety of cars entered. There's few events anywhere in which you could see a V8 Torana, Bugeye Sprite, new Nissan GTR, Mercedes SLK AMG, Caterham 7, Suzuki Swift and classic Porsche Turbo competing together. The Fiat Lancia Club used the event as a part of their championship, adding to the numbers on the day.
One of the highlights was Inno Tizzano's new Nissan GTR R35, which he collected from Fabcar on Friday, and put it to the test on Sunday... Also noteworthy was the builder of Vince Troth's Fiat 131 Abarth replica, Paul Scambler, visiting from Victoria who drove his old car several years after selling it to Vince.
The results were looking like they'd favour the all-wheel-drive cars, but Warwick Gates' naturally aspirated MX5 and Tsung Lee's Honda Civic ensured it wasn't a 4WD benefit. Unfortunately Matthew Craig's 1968 Corolla (with turbo) came to an unfortunate end - he was fine, just very annoyed with himself for damaging the car. A few others had big looses too. Piotr Zmigrodzki using his newly acquired WRX told how he thought its tyres were made from "old potatoes or something", then promptly spun the car in the finish garage... And Jason Cohen managed to spin his BMW M3 twice in the same place, and in another location... Well done to his young brother Robert on his first event.
Congratulations to those who ranked high in the results and drove so well in such changing conditions. Tsung Lee will be especially thrilled to have got a front wheel drive car so high in the rankings - well done (especially given the weather). Aside from one garage penalty, Warwick Gates did very well in his naturally aspirated MX5. And Vince Troth should be pretty pleased with his placing. Well done to the two top place-getters, both in Evo8s. Simon Gunson managed to break the 46-second barrier twice, taking him to the top spot. Provisional results are shown below. Thanks also to the officials who assisted on the day. Next Superkhana - December 6th.
