All guided, without the worries of bookings, finding suitable places to eat, stay, visit, etc - all with plenty of flexibility.May is spring time and the most beautiful time of year to be in the Cote d’Azur - “where the sun shines for 320 days a year”. You’ll see why the French Riviera is a favourite destination - chic shops, dramatic architecture, stylish people, exotic cars, gastronomical delights, amazing history and the height of fashion. We specially produce a Roadbook for participants in The Ultimate Grand Prix Experience - it’s your bible for the tour. Included is a wealth of practical information to help you along the way. There’s information such as guidance on language, etiquette, food and driving tips for each country we visit. There are details of each destination, how to get to your hotel and where dinners will be. We also provide participants with maps of major centres we will be visiting.
Each of the excellent hotels and restaurants have been carefully selected, are of a high standard and well located. It's not just a tour for rev-heads. We've been complimented by past participants who are not car enthusiasts but have enjoyed the many facets of our tour...
The Mille Miglia
The Mille Miglia, probably the world's most famous road race, began in 1927 and ran through to 1957 taking a route running clockwise from Brescia, down to Rome and back. The arduous event attracted the greatest drivers and cars. In the 1980s the event was revived as a historic event, but not losing the bravado required for crews to blast along the roads, and through towns where the streets are lined by cheering crowds. Interest in the event is immense, with continuous television coverage while the event takes place.
The event attracts 375 cars each year, and entries are restricted to cars which are the same as models that competed in the original event – several are actual past Mille Miglia competitors. Collectors from around the world ship their cars to be a part of this most evocative of motoring events. Several car manufacturers also support the Mille Miglia with entries. Every year you can expect to see several world famous racing drivers and celebrities among the participants. Many celebrities compete and in 2011 they included Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean), GP driver Mika Hakkinen, motorcycle racing legend Giacomo Agostini and Bavarian royalty. There is a real buzz in Brescia in the lead-up to the event. The public can get close to the amazing cars and crews in the town squares on the day before the event starts. The famous start is on a closed road near the outskirts of Brescia.
There is also an excellent Mille Miglia Museum in town which opened only a few years ago. Brescia is a very beautiful ancient town which shows all the character of a town which has been very prosperous for centuries. There is also a fabulous Ferrari Tribute event which runs immediately prior to the Mille Miglia with over 100 Ferraris 1958 to present competing.
A quote from past participants:
"Congratulations on having the vision to conceive The Ultimate Grand Prix Experience and the courage and expertise to transform it from concept to sensational reality. We have toured the French Riviera previously so had some idea of what to expect this trip but found that through your intimate knowledge of and unbridled passion for this region our trip was a truly exciting and memorable experience, significantly beyond our expectation." - Jose & John Whitfield
