 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL     SOLD

This car has been in our family for 43 years, purchased at 11000 miles from a family friend who had become very ill. With its Pagoda hardtop it is elegant, dark, discreet and sexy. The service manual shows a prominence of regular York (later York Star), Motors service stamps. My father was initially workshop Foreman, then later Sales Manager of York Motors for many years. He took great pride in this car, and it shows. The first 123,000 miles were driven and serviced exceedingly well. The following 40,000 and last 20 years were clocked within Canberra. The driving and servicing traditions were maintained. The Coupe has been in the ACT Mercedes Benz Car Club for the past 9 years, and its current registration is as a Historic Vehicle, ACT Plate number 980. The last 3 years have seen new bumpers, new exhaust tips, new aerial, new seats, new upholstery and more recently new carpets, including in the boot. The windscreen is new, as are the windscreen rubber, boot rubber and window rubbers. None of these changes were really necessary, as the replaced bumpers and steering wheel will indicate, …but how else would you treat a car like this? There are no issues with the engine and is in very good condition. The following items are included in the package. The original and very rare Radio Delete Plate, (replacement cost, new, 700Euros), an equally rare Turn Signal Switch, (similar new replacement cost), a highly saleable steering wheel, the previous bumpers, a few square meters of authentic beige interior vinyl, and a spare hubcap. As I am already living overseas, the continued ownership of this car has become awkward. The car is currently garaged on the Mid North Coast and is available for viewing by appointment. Asking $57,990. SOLD

1950 Morris Minor Tourer project    SOLD

An Australian delivered Morris Minor MM Series Low Light Tourer (Convertible) with original side valve engine. Examination has suggested that this is NOT a saloon that has been chopped and is an original tourer - the only other one I am aware of is in the York motor museum and has the incorrect engine. Although registered as a 1949, the chassis number indicate it should be a 1950 car.  It has the original 918cc side valve engine. Engine was running well in recent years but is in need of 4 broken bolts to be removed from where the side water jacket was. The water jacket had broken due to build up of calcium presumably due to not having had antifreeze in water system periodically (new water jacket and head gasket supplied). The paint work is poor in places with a respray required. See picture of one rear wing which shows some paint missing although the steel is solid. The car is however very solid and would make a great restoration project which would not be too taxing once those 4 studs are removed! Newish tyres and good condition soft top and front seats. Asking $3500, negotiable. SOLD

Lightly backdated with classic ducktail and Carrera script from the 1974 2.7 Carrera.   The 1985 3.2 has the same 915 gearbox as the 1973 Carrera RS, plus the 915 is 50kg lighter than the later G50 gearbox option. On weight, the Coupe body is also a min 50kg lighter than the Targa version, (plus much stiffer), and the narrow body is 50kg lighter than a wide body 911, making this car the true enthusiasts choice. Other details include electric sunroof, windows, mirrors and drivers seat, air-conditioning, central locking, CD, books and service history with both Auto Exclusive and K-tec Perth, plus being a 1985 model year it has the four-spoke steering wheel, passenger exterior mirror, integrated fog lights, radio aerial built in to the original windscreen, shorter-throw gear shift and central-locking as standard. This 3.2 Carrera runs and presents beautifully. It's not a show car but is one of the most honest and genuine WA delivered cars available.  Asking $42,500 ono. SOLD.

1910 Napier 15Hp Double Phaeton      SOLD

One of the great cars of the Veteran era, Napier was known for its fast racing designs and for well-engineered touring cars.  Like many manufacturers, it produced special “colonial” models for export.  These featured larger wheels and other modifications to cope with the extreme conditions found all over the world.  This included flipping the motor so that the flywheel was at the front of the engine and it had improved ground clearance.  As a result, this Napier is started by hand-cranking the engine anti-clockwise rather than the more usual clockwise arrangement. Bodied by Trevethan in Toowoomba, Queensland this Napier is a significant part of Australian motoring history, and suitable for any veteran car rally.  SOLD

1959 Facel Vega HK500 Coupe   SOLD FROM THIS WEBSITE

This car is documented as the very first example off the production line fitted with the big 6.3-litre (383cu in) V8 engine. Previous cars had a smaller 5.9-litre V8. Sold on May 15th, 1959 by Auto Becker (presently a Ferrari dealer) in Dusseldorf, Germany. It arrived in Western Australian in 1964, being the first example of the famous French marque in Australia. Converted to right hand drive by Terry Priestly’s renowned conversion company. Not driven since the 1980s. Current owner for the past 20 years. Metallic burgundy paintwork with black leather interior. Factory fitted options included: push-button automatic transmission, Borrani knock-on disc wheels, power steering. Standard equipment included leather, radio with twin antennas, quick-release racing fuel cap, slide-out tool kit and more. This car is in need of restoration. Complete and together, but missing only a few small items. It is in sound condition and has always been dry stored. Availability of parts is excellent. Major mechanical components are by Chrysler, and several specialists in Europe and the USA provide both new and used parts for Facel Vegas. In its day, the expensive and exclusive HK 500 had performance on par with a Ferrari and it was more luxurious than a Rolls-Royce. Owners included Stirling Moss, Danny Kay, Tony Curtis and Ringo Starr. Only 12 examples of all Facel Vega models exist in Australia. Reasonable examples in Europe are commanding a minimum of $100,000, and one excellent HK500 is presently for sale in France for over $230,000. Much cheaper than an equivalent Aston Martin or Maserati! Very reluctant sale. paulb@classicrally.com.au  SOLD

Original 54012 miles on the speedo. This car is one of very few special order colour combinations from the factory. The colour was Chatue fire-mist plum and the interior is white leather. This car is a survivor and has had no restoration work done so it is completely original. The interior is unmarked and the electrics all work. There are no dents or severe rust in this vehicle. The engine is a 472 ci front wheel drive unit and it runs like new as you would expect from a low mileage survivor. The three speed auto is like new with no leaks or slippage. Overall this vehicle needs very little to put it into concourse condition with all the original trim, interior, badges and excellent body. The car was sold in 1995 at which time the odometer showed 55,000 miles and it was brought to Perth, Western Australia. After servicing and work to make the car comply with local regulations, it was first licensed in WA on January 25th 1996, after which it had annual inspections until the requirement for these lapsed in 2003. Note that it is licensed as a 1972 car, reflecting its build-date, however the car is clearly a 1973 model. It is on full registration. The Cadillac has been exhibited in several car shows and exhibitions. In 1996 the car was shipped to Melbourne and participated in the Dutton Grand Prix Rally. The car also participated in Round the Houses historic events at York and Joondalup always showing perfect reliability. Present mileage is approximately 106,000. Comments and condition; The car has been extremely reliable throughout the 12 years of current ownership, having been used as everyday transport for some of that period, during which the car covered approximately 50,000 miles. The Cadillac is in need of some cosmetic work; the vinyl roof is deteriorating, there is rust, mainly under the rear window and on the left front mudguard - and the drivers' side seat upholstery is worn. Mechanically the Cadillac is in excellent condition. The car drives very well and all fittings (power seat, windows, climate control, etc) work correctly.  1974 Porsche 911S

I have a 1974 Porsche 911S which I have decided to sell after 32 years of loving ownership from new. It is unique because it is one owner, never pranged and has it's original paint except for the back guards. These were repainted in 1982 after they were fitted with Porsche Factory steel wheel flares so that I could fit wider rims at the rear to take advantage of new tyre technology. The car now has 7" and 8"x15" genuine Fuchs rims from a Porsche Turbo. It has Factory fitted Carrera suspension bars, Bilstein shocks, stainless steel Carrera extractors and 5 speed gearbox and a sun roof. In most respects the car is basically a 1974 Carrera but with K Jetronic rather than mechanical fuel injection. The car is very quick and very agile compared to later Porsches. I wish to sell the car 'as is' to an enthusiast. Whilst I have never painted the car as I didn't think it needed it, I would prefer to sell it in it's original form to someone who would prefer to see it this way and who may then want to paint it fully and have his own restored 'Concours' Porsche. Full mechanical history is available and no expense has been spared as I never intended selling the car. It has a fully reconditioned engine and gear box, a new clutch and dashboard and many new spares. SOLD
