JAPANESE CAR DAY
SUNDAY OCTOBER 16th 2011 SPEED DOME - MIDVALE
The first really hot summer day greeted exhibitors, competitors and visitors to the Japanese Car Day. We had a wonderful mix of cars displayed, both from private entrants and clubs - spanning classics to modern cars, with some real rarities among them. Several of the cars had never been exhibited before in Perth. The Shannons display included a Datsun 240Z which had come fourth in the London-Sydney Marathon. the SIVA display included a pristine Suzuki Hatch with just 30,000km on the clock and a rare Subaru 360 Maia. A very rare convertible Nissan Silvia on the SilviasWA display gained a lot of attention. GemsWA had a wonderful variety including an Isuzu Woody Wagon, a Gemini Overlander and a drag car. The CRX which is probably the oldest example in existence was among the cars in the CRX Club display. The TECCWA stand included a rare Toyota Crown Coupe and a very unusual Mitsubishi Gallant FTO. The photo gallery below tells more of the story.
Exhibiting clubs were: Datsun Roadsters Club, Perth WRX, SIVA, A-Series Datsun 1000/1200 Group, Down South Car Club, WRX Owners Club, TECCWA, SilviasWA, Dowerin Car Club, GemsWA, Supra Club, All Fours & Rotaries Car Club, Perth S15, CRX Club WA. Plus lots of private entries.
The Superkhana produced a lot of entertainment, and attracted a great mix of cars too, from a 6-litre V8 Mazda MX5 to a Datsun 1000 Coupe. Some very spirited driving impressed the crowds. For RESULTS click here.
