Porsche V-Max Report, Results & Photo Gallery

October 8th 2011 saw
Automotive Events Management run the first V-Max event for the Porsche Club and
Make-A-Wish. The venue was Wyalkatchem, where the town turned on exceptional
hospitality to the crews of 40 cars, officials and all the others involved.
The weekend began with a night put on by the local Business Association,
featuring an award winning magician, whose performance impressed all the 180
people at the Wyalkatchem Town
Hall.
The next day started with breakfast in the main street as the Street Festival
and Motorkhana were set up. Following Scrutineering the Motorkhana began, with
the experience some drivers had
in this kind of event showing through. Congratulations to Deryck Graham, driving
his 968RS for taking out first place.
Then it was off to the recently upgraded airport where lunch was served,
followed by the big event - the V-Max. There had been difficulties with the new
speed readout equipment the Shire had
purchased, so nearby police were pressed into action with their radar for the
runs in one direction - getting speeds achieved at the 1km mark. For the return
runs, electronic timing gear was
used to get an elapsed time from starting to the 1m point.
These results were tabulated and performances converted to placings to get the
winners. Well done to Murray Hill who came out on top.
A big night at Wyalkatchem, featuring the band Hells Bells, dinner, a charity
auction and the awards presentations was well attended by participants and
locals.
The following morning saw Charity Rides in Wyalkatchem and the surrounding area
well supported with about 25 rides taken.
A significant sum was raised over the weekend for Make-A-Wish.
